When I was writing Known Shippable, Will Not Fix one of the biggest inspirations to that book was the myths and legends of my people, the Gitksan. Growing up we would be told origin stories of how the world was shaped by creatures or animals. Often times these stories served as a guide on being a good human being. These stories are still taught in schools in the villages up in British Columbia.
I always wanted my wife to discover these stories but long believed this particular book was out of print. I got enormously lucky in tracking down an ultra-rare hard cover edition just before Christmas.
I am happy this book still exists and is mostly available on Amazon for purchase. If you feel like diving into the myths and legends of the Gitksan this is your starting point. Bonus points to the book for featuring both English and Gitksan translations.
